Event Highlights
The following are reports and presentations from some of the congresses in which we have participated.

TCT 2009
Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) is one of the most internationally respected and comprehensive meetings in interventional cardiology and endovascular medicine. After 20 years in Washington DC, the 21st TCT was held in San Francisco with more than 11,800 participants, which is a TCT all time record.
TCT also became a significant milestone for Biosensors International, as we presented numerous new critical data on our stent programs:
- The 2-year follow-up of the LEADERS trial was presented during the Late Breaking Trial session. The results showed that the Biolimus A9™- eluting stent with a biodegradable polymer was noninferior to the sirolimus-eluting stent with a durable polymer in patients with stable angina and/or ACS up to 2 years. These results were presented by Volker Klauss, MD, from the department of cardiology at University Hospital Munich in Germany.
- Our satellite evening symposium gathered a panel of internationally renowned cardiologists. They presented the concept of biodegradable polymers and related clinical results, the LEADERS trial 2-year clinical results, and the use of biodegradable polymers in complex patient populations, based on data from the LEADERS trial, the e-BioMatrix registry, and single-centre experience in Indonesia. Notably it was presented that, in STEMI patients, the rate of MACE was better with BES than with SES (8.1% vs 19.3%; p < 0.01). Also, the 5-year follow-up data from the STEALTH I trial show complete coverage and no late or very late acquired stent apposition.
- The four-month results from the First-In-Man (“FIM”) trial of BioFreedom™, a novel polymer-free drug-coated stent (“DCS”), was announced. The results showed a significant reduction in in-stent late lumen loss over Boston Scientific’s TAXUS™ Liberté™ (“TAXUS Liberté”) stent. These results were presented by the Principal Investigator, Professor Eberhard Grube, Helios Heart Center, Siegburg, Germany, as part of the Featured Clinical Trial session.
